Exfoliating is key to remove dead skin cells from your face and body, making room for new skin to show through. I had a lot of time on my hands early this year while in quarantine, so I started looking into inexpensive ways that I could treat myself to a mini-facial treatment. Given the amount of money I’ve spent on beauty products throughout my life (that may or may not actually work), I always appreciate a good DIY solution – to save time, money, and my sanity!

I found this simple recipe that I could make with what I already had in my pantry:
DIY FACE SCRUB: 1 T. coffee, 1 T. cocoa powder, 1 T. coconut oil. Mix together until smooth; apply to a clean face and wash off with warm water after 15 minutes. The mixture softens as you apply it to your skin, and it smells fantastic!

The consistency felt like familiar scrubs that I’ve used in the past, but the coconut oil really softens and blends upon contact with your skin so it feels soothing as well.

The end result after washing it off my face was better than expected. I definitely felt that I had a nice exfoliating treatment that didn’t damage or dry out my skin. Using quality organic ingredients with no harsh, artificial chemicals really seemed to do the trick!
